Djanbung Gardens permaculture education centre is a vibrant living learnscape of working permaculture systems and sustainability in action located in Northern NSW, Australia. Established by Robyn Francis in 1993, the centre is now managed by Erda Institute Inc., a non-profit training organisation and bioregional campus.
A diverse range of courses and learning opportunities are offered through the bioregional campus including vocational permaculture training, community education and work-for-wisdom volunteer programs. Participants come from all continents and climates to emerse themselves in fast-track, in-depth training, and graduates are working, teaching and managing permaculture projects and programs around the world.
Courses include full-time Accredited Permaculture Training™ (APT) Certificates III, IV and Diploma of Permaculture. Short courses include PDC, Sustainable Aid, Eco-settlements Design, Integrated Production and Ecological Restoration.
Djanbung Gardens and Erda Institute play an important role in the local community, including hosting the local Climate Action Group. Located in Nimbin, Northern NSW, the subtropical climate at Djanbung Gardens allows for a diverse range of temperate, subtropic and tropical production systems.
Djanbung (pronounced with silent 'd') means platypus in the local Wyabul dialect. Erda is the root word for earth, from an ancient north european earth goddess, used in spirit and context of Gaia as the name of the Erda Institute. http://www.permaculture.com.au/
