accaacrosit drondelo The purpose of this wiki is two-fold

1. to serve as an informal knowledge base for permaculture designers here and now.
2. to serve as a prototype to explore the character of permaculture knowledge for the production of future web-based social software applications that support permaculture.

The goal is not to try to replace the vast trove of knowledge available through web searching. You can find infinite information on chickens out there in cyberspace. The purpose of this wiki is not to catalog everything about chickens, but rather to reinterpret the chicken as an element in a ecological design -- a chicken through the eyes of permaculture. A medium sized omniverous bird that transforms forage into eggs while scratching and releasing heat and blobs of high nitrogen fertilizer.

The goal of this wiki-space as an informal knowledge base is three-fold:

1. create a place for people to present there biomes/ecoregions/entities/sites
2. reinterpret everyday things under the scrutiny of permaculture/ecological design
   1. identify inputs and outputs and how they may be satisfied or utilized
   2. identify yields that provide benefit
   3. identify labor saving approaches by stacking function
   4. identify repeatable structural patterns that stack function that can be adopted in new locations
3. present concepts and ideas about places and their properties that should be assessed in the process of developing a permaculture/ecological design for a place.

you are of course free to co-create, and formulate other functions.

The advantage of a wiki, as compared to a wiki or BBS is that at the end of the conversation, there is a document that summarizes the best points of that conversation. This function of information concentration through dialog is stacking functions.
