Robert Waldrop

rolmonernRobert Waldrop is a student of permaculturist Dan Hemenway of Barking Frogs Permaculture in Florida. He has studied permaculture on his own since 1999, and been involved with the Barking Frogs Permaculture Online Permaculture Design Course since 2005.
He is the founder of the Oscar Romero Catholic Worker House, which works in food security in Oklahoma City. They deliver food to people in need who don't have transportation to get to a regular food bank, and promote gardening and permaculture. He is a regular critic of the poor performance of the United States Catholic bishops on issues of war and peace and the care of Creation.
He is the founder of the Oklahoma Food Cooperative, http://www.oklahomafood.coop , an organization which makes it easy for people to buy food directly from farmers. The cooperative operates an internet based order system and a volunteer delivery system. They are active in helping people in other states develop similar cooperatives.
He is one of the founders of the Oklahoma Sustainability Network, htp://www.oksustainability.org , a networking and information organization promoting sustainable living in Oklahoma.
Waldrop was born in 1952, in Frederick, Oklahoma, the son of Max L and Betty Jo Cassidy Waldrop. His father was a farmer and his mother a teacher. He has earned 192 undergraduate hours in history, music, philosophy, and sociology, but has no degree. He is presently employed as the director of music at Epiphany of the Lord Catholic Church in Oklahoma City.
