[edit] Requests for admin status

Please leave your username here if you want to have admin status (ability to delete pages and block users). --Salix alba 12:25, 1 May 2007 (EDT)

Rich, I'd take admin status to be able to work on the charinsert page for the purposes of developing a category set. --Paul Cereghino 00:57, 23 May 2007 (EDT)

Hello Rich: Mediawiki certainly has nearly everything one needs. The User pages make nice blogs for keeping up with contributors' works-in-progress. Thanks again for this elegant installation. - LL

Is there a setting that's preventing me from uploading PNGs? It says 'The file is corrupt or has an incorrect extension. Please check the file and upload again.' --Paul d'Aoust 13:35, 11 May 2007 (EDT)

Thanks for the note! I'll try uploading that PNG when I get to work. --Paul d'Aoust 14:55, 21 May 2007 (EDT)

Thanks for the welcome, Salix! I'm definitely interested in understanding more about permaculture. Just so you know, REWILD.info is not specifically a permaculture site. Our focus is on regaining lost lore that allowed people to live in harmony with the land and their non-human neighbors before civilization came along. Permaculture is a big part of that lore, as are primitive skills and ethnobotany. We also hope to find answers on how to restore damaged bioregions. I think permaculture is a huge part of that as well, but I'm also interested in bioremediation techniques such as using oyster mushrooms to mitigate oil spills and cattails to remove heavy metals from soil. --WildeRix 10:21, 22 May 2007 (EDT)

Rich -- how does the PIW: prefix identify the content of articles? What kind of info should those pages be reserved for? --Paul Cereghino 01:48, 31 May 2007 (EDT

Thanks... that makes sense. Now I am wondering if there are any advanced search features where you could look for articles that are in two categories simultaneously (like ELEMENTS in BIOREGION A)

Also -- is there a way to turn off case sensitivity in page naming and searching. This might avoid duplication of pages. --Paul Cereghino 03:09, 31 May 2007 (EDT)

this site looks nice, and an excelent idea. the only issue i have is that it's been completely overrun with spam. i was looking through the pages last night and the vast majority of them had been replaced with nothing but random links to all sorts of totally unrelated stuff. i went through as many as i could before i went to sleep deleting spam and trying to keep any real information, but there is a lot more of it then one person can handle in an hour or two and this morning when i checked there was even more! i'd like to recommend making the membership process a little more secure (email verification before you can edit, word verification to stop bots from posting, etc.). this site has a great deal of potential but all that spam makes it hard and unpleasant to navigate. here's an example of what they're doing to your site.

[edit] Help:Contents

Salix, here's a link explaining how to copy MediaWiki's help pages into this wiki: http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Copying --User:WildeRix

Now done. --User:Salix alba (talk) 04:25, 22 May 2007 (EDT)
